| 5-Sept-2002 |
The Graduate Diploma
in Arts (Japanese) is a 12 month, 48 credit point subject in Japanese
language (commencing in March, 2003) at one of the Japanese universities
with which the University of Wollongong has exchange agreements.
The diploma offers
the opportunity for graduate students interested in improving their Japanese
language proficiency, but also for those students who would like the opportunity
to pursue further studies in majors other than Japanese, such as literature,
history, engineering and commerce.
It is open to all
graduates (from any discipline), including those who have no previous
Japanese language skills but who wish to learn Japanese language (at beginner's
level) in Japan.
Minimum requirement:
Any undergraduate degree (preferably with some Japanese language, but
this is not compulsory). Native Japanese speakers are, however, excluded.
Other nationalities are welcome, but must be enrolled at the University
of Wollongong before participating.
Completion requirements:
After one year of study at the exchange university in Japan, candidates
will be required to pass an exit examination at the University of Wollongong
in late February the following year. The diploma will be awarded upon
the successful completion of these requirements.
The application
process involves: A written application in the form of a statement
of interest, and an interview to be held at the University of Wollongong.
Very attractive full scholarships are available. (Further details will
be supplied upon application.)
