An application form is available on the Occupational Health and Safety Web pages which is to be completed and forwarded to the Occupational Health & Safety Unit when public liability coverage is required for Student Work Experience placement.
The officer currently responsible for processing these applications is Lyn Politis - ext. 4365.
Public Liability Coverage does not cover the student for personal injury whilst on work experience.

In September this year, the OH&S Unit provided the opportunity for staff to attend workshops on Eye Safety presented by Robert Sackett of NIB Eye Safety.
As a follow-on from these workshops Robert has provided the following information - if you wish to make further enquiries, please contact Robert Sackett direct.
Protective eyewear covers both prescription and non-prescription. University staff will receive a 15% discount off the retail prices for non-safety (personal) eyewear .
Safety Frames: Only safety frames complying with Australian Safety Standards, will be supplied (This includes sideshields on all models, fixed to the frame).
Safety Lenses: Only Lenses that comply to Australian Safety Standards, will be supplied within safety frames. This includes various lens types per individual needs ie single vision, bifocal or multifocal.
Each faculty/dept has different needs, (break resistance, chemical resistance etc) so to ensure the best eyewear appropriate, contact NIB Eyesafety.
Prices: All specific safety eyewear will be supplied at Industrial Prices.
Don't forget, Training has moved to the new IT Resource Centre, located between the Library and the Unicentre. All courses will now be held in the new Training laboratories on Level 2 of Building 17.
There are no current entries for the Information Technology Services training centre.
