UOW presents cheque for storm victims

Wollongong Lord Mayor David Campbell accepted a cheque for $5601.34 for residents affected by the August storms at the University's Gala Dinner. The money was raised at a Trivia Night for staff, students and their families and organiser Jacqui Price, centre, presented the proceeds to the Lord Mayor, accompanied by WIN Television newsreader Mary Franks. The money will go to the Lord Mayor's Relief Fund to help compensate people unable to secure insurance payouts in the wake of the storms.


 

Town and gown get down to business

A ‘town and gown’ business networking cocktail party was held on 22 October in the Wollongong Entertainment Centre.

More than 160 business people attended the function which was organised through the University of Wollongong’s Business School (as well as the Business School’s Student Representative Committee) and the Illawarra Connection.

The Director of the Business School, Professor John Glynn, reported on significant developments which have taken place over the past 12 months and outlined plans for the coming year.

The evening provided an ideal opportunity for business people and students to interact.
