The University of Wollongong has certainly won its fair share of major awards of late (see earlier News Bytes reports).
And now the Department of Biomedical Science has performed exceptionally well at the recent NSW Sports Safety 2000 Awards presentation held at the Hotel Nicko in Darling Harbour.
In front of a distinguished audience, including the Attorney-General and the Minister of Sport, UOW took out two of the top three awards.
Dr Julie Steele won the top award and $25,000 ("Outstanding Achievement by an Established Researcher in the Field of Sports Medicine") while her PhD student Gavin Pinniger won a $15,000 scholarship ("Outstanding New NSW Talent in Applied Sports Medicine Research").
The Media Services Unit will shortly cover the above successful sports awards in more detail.
