Thousands of school students discover uni life
More than 5500 students from 131 high schools flocked to the University of Wollongong during the annual week of Discovery Days -- the University's largest undergraduate recruitment event.
The aim of Discovery Days, held from February 1 – 5 this year, is to provide an opportunity for HSC students to experience university life first-hand.
As well as discovering academic life, students were given a taste of the social side of university with Bustin’ Crew DJs playing on the duck pond lawn during lunch time each day. A competition to find the best photo uploaded to the UOW Future Students Facebook page meant the students turned the duck pond into a dance floor in an effort to get the best pose for the camera.
“Discovery days show the students that uni is not a scary place. It’s a chance for them to get to know the social side of university too,” Discovery Days coordinator Patrick O’Connor said. “It’s great to see them having so much fun.”
