UniCentre award a lasting legacy of talented artist

Faculty of Creative Arts student Bodie O'Dell was awarded
the Victor Yang Memorial Art Prize at the University of Wollongong
for her watercolour painting 'Cicular Quay'.
The inaugural art prize was awarded at the 14th annual UniCentre Acquisitive Art Award exhibition opening on Thursday 4 September and honours the memory of talented young Taiwanese artist and former UOW student, "Victor" Yang Sheng An, who drowned while surfing at East Corrimal Beach in December 2002.
Instigated by the University's Postgraduate Association
(WUPA), The 'Victor Yang Memorial Art Prize' was supported
by UOW's Office of Development and Public Affairs, with
$500 going to Bodie, along with a copy of Victor's journal,
documented by his family.
Other artwork exhibited at the UniCentre Acquisitive Art Award exhibition included black and white and colour photography, delicate pencil drawings and two and three-dimensional work.
