Knowledge management helps to set the right standards
Sep 29, 2003
A book launched at the University of Wollongong titled "Australian Studies in Knowledge Management" focuses on knowledge management as a way for organisations to set the right standards. The contributing editors are Associate Professor Helen Hasan from Information Systems at the University of Wollongong and Meliha Handzic who is a senior lecturer in Information Systems and inaugural leader of the knowledge management research group (kmRg) at the School of Information Systems, Technology and Management, University of New South Wales. Professor Hasan said organisations were often overloaded with information and technology and were seeking ways to deal with crisis after crisis without really knowing what would work or where they were going. She said the book's focus on knowledge management suggested that organisations step back and take a holistic view of where they were and what it was they were trying to do. The book was launched at the University in conjunction with the third annual workshop on knowledge management hosted by UOW's School of Economics and Information Systems.
