Lord Mayor tours Chemistry Department

The Lord Mayor of Wollongong, Cr Alex Darling, recently visited the University of Wollongong's Department of Chemistry. He was taken on a tour of the laboratories and shown some of the important research work being undertaken. Among those who met the Lord Mayor were the Director of the Institute for Biomolecular Science, Professor John Bremner, and Associate Professor John Carver and Associate Professor Roger Truscott from the Australian Cataract Research Foundation.

The Lord Mayor was shown a large magnet of a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer used to determine the structures of molecules of biological importance, during his tour of the Department of Chemistry. Standing in the middle is Associate Professor John Carver and at the bottom of the stairs, Associate Professor Roger Truscott.
