Visit from Taiwanese National Science Council

A delegation from the National Science Council of Taiwan visited the University of Wollongong recently.

The delegation included Professors from Tunghai University, Academia Sinica, the National Taiwan University, the National Tsing Hua Univeristy, and the National Science Council.

Their visit included a tour of University of Wollongong Centre for Asia Pacific Social Transformation Studies (CAPSTRANS). CAPSTRANS research themes are labour and mobility; citizenship and globalisation; science, technology and intellectual property; law and development; cultural change and representation; community and sustainability; and corporate governance and financial markets.

The delegates also learnt about the University's Science, Technology and Society (STS) program. STS studies in depth the origins, nature and social impacts of science, medicine and technology.

The delegation was organised through the Australian Academy of Science, National Committee for the History and Philosophy of Science.
