Fellowship honour for Wollongong scientist

The Director of the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute and the Australian Research Council Centre for Nanostructured Electromaterials at the University of Wollongong, Professor Gordon Wallace (pictured), has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering and Technological Sciences. The honour acknowledges his major contributions in the design and synthesis of innovative materials and the use of these in areas as diverse as corrosion protection, precious metal recovery, chemical and biomechanical sensors, artificial muscles, synthetic enzymes, cellular (living cell) communications, electronic textiles and plastic solar cells. Professor Wallace acknowledged that all the advances that have been achieved in his field are the result of establishing key strategic alliances in Australia and overseas.
