Role reversal: UOW students interview employers
Sep 13, 2004
The Graduate Attributes Challenge (GAC), a program designed to enable students to discover the connection between the UOW graduate attributes and their employability skills through direct communication with employers, culminated with a display and presentation last Friday (September 10) at the UniCentre Functions Room. The program involved 38 students in eight teams representing six faculties and gave students the chance to research their own skill and attribute development from their field of study, and helped them to understand how these are interdependent. Each team had identified and interviewed at least three employers who recruit graduates from their particular discipline. UOW Careers Counsellor, Robyn Gleeson, said that the teams reported on the outcomes from these interviews and presented their research into graduate attributes to a judging panel. “The teams provided some detailed information about what employers are looking for when they recruit graduates, and how studying at UOW has equipped them to meet these requirements,” she said. -RP
