Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner presents talks at UOW

Nov 04, 2004

Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Ms Pru Goward, visited the University of Wollongong on 4 November as guest speaker at two separate forums.

The University's EEO Unit launched the first meeting of a new women's network at which Ms Goward spoke on “Career and Family - Making it Work".

Meanwhile, Ms Goward was the guest lecturer at the 2004 Economic and Social Policy Public Lecture held on the evening of 4 November. This address was entitled: “Work/Family Issues in the New Federal Government's Agenda”.

The Annual Economics and Social Policy Lecture was organised by UOW's School of Economics and Information Systems. The lecture from Ms Goward from the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, focused on the enhancement of work and family issues. She discussed how governments and nations which ignore gender issues, do so at their own peril.
