Education staff recognised for ‘outstanding’ contributions

Two academics from the University of Wollongong’s Faculty of Education have been awarded for their hard work and dedication, both receiving accolades for their contributions to the profession of education.
Associate Professor Bev Derewianka has been awarded the Australian College of Education (ACE) award for Outstanding Achievement in Education for 2004 and Dr Jan Turbill has been awarded the Norman Baker Award for Excellence in Education from the St George branch of the ACE.
Dr Turbill was also awarded life membership to the Primary English Teaching Association (PETA) -- an acknowledgement of the quality and quantity of her publications and services to primary teachers.
