2002 University Teacher of the Year visits UOW
Oct 25, 2005
Teaching teachers has been Professor Lynne Hunt’s passion for many years. The Leader of Teaching and Learning at Charles Darwin University recently visited the University of Wollongong to conduct a workshop and give a lecture about making teaching fun and learning from students. Professor Hunt won the Prime Minister’s award for Australian University Teacher of the Year in 2002 as well an award in the Social Science category. Her workshop, which was aimed at nominees and winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning award at UOW, was a chance for her to share her experiences in teaching and communicate her ideas about how to turn the enthusiasm of students and the respect of colleagues into award winning teaching portfolios. Her lecture titled ‘If You Want To Be A Teacher, By Your Pupils You'll Be Taught’ outlined what good teaching means and the confidence and joy that comes from educating others. Professor Hunt has had a long and distinguished academic career as a teacher, researcher and leader of learning and teaching at Charles Darwin University and previously Edith Cowan University. She is also a member of the Board of the Carrick Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education -- the Commonwealth government's initiative to enhance teaching in Australian universities.
