New professorial lecture series begins

The University of Wollongong today (26 October) began a new "Professorial Lecture Series". The series of lunch time lectures will be presented by academic staff members who have either been promoted to professorial level or are recent appointments to the University. The lectures will run through to the end of 2006 and they will give academics the opportunity to discuss with other staff members across campus details of their particular research area and recent research successes. The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Chris Cook, officially launched the lecture series starting with Professor Chao Zhang speaking on the topic of Terahertz Optoelectronics. Future lectures will be delivered by Professor Julie Steele (who was recently named NSW Telstra Business Woman of the Year) on 23 November 2005; Professor Colin Murray-Wallace (15 March 2006); Professor Jan Wright (19 April 2006); Professor Adrian Vickers (24 May 2006); Professor Salim Bouzerdoum (21 June 2006); Professor Geoff Spinks (26 July 2006); Professor Philip Ogunbona (30 August 2006); Professor Mark Wilson (11 October 2006); and Professor Amanda Lawson (8 November 2006).
