Photo competition celebrates faces and places of the world
Jun 13, 2006
As International Week approaches at the University of Wollongong (7-11 August), staff and students are again being encouraged to participate in the InterFace Photography Competition and Exhibition. The event was officially launched last year and proved a great success. International Week is a vibrant celebration of cultural harmony and diversity at UOW where staff, students and the general community can all participate in a week-long festival of multicultural programs and activities. The InterFace competition calls for the submission of photographs representing international culture in a number of different categories, which include: Student Focus - any current student may submit a photograph and judges will choose the image that best addresses or articulates the theme of International Week 2006 - 'One Community...Many Footprints'. The Wollongong Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) and the Wollongong University Postgraduate Association (WUPA) are jointly sponsoring the category and offering a winner's prize of $400. Staff Focus - open to all current UOW staff. Entries must articulate the 'One Community...Many Footprints' theme. Familiar Faces in Famous Places - sponsored by the Study Abroad and Exchange Office. InterFace - open to all current UOW students and staff and sponsored by the Illawarra Committee for International Students. The subject of the photo must include an international student(s). The deadline for submissions is Friday 28 July. Entries must be unmounted, quality prints of 25 x 20cm (10 x 8 inches) or 20 x 30cm (8 x 12 inches) in size and may be produced from a digital or film source, in colour or black and white. Interface Project Co-ordinators, Susan Boyd and Jodie Merlo, said selected photos will be on display throughout International Week, with the winner being announced towards the end of the week. More information and entry forms will soon be available on the International Week website: International Week
