Senior Thai education delegates visit UOW

A senior delegation of Thai education officials visited the University of Wollongong today (Tuesday 24 October) as part of a study tour of Australian universities. They were officially welcomed to the University by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Patterson. Presentations were made by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Margaret Sheil on research at UOW and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) on teaching and learning at UOW. The visitors were taken on a tour of the campus followed by a special luncheon and presentation where Assistant President from Chulalongkorn University, Dr Sudaporn Luksaneeyanawin, thanked the University for hosting the visit. "We are very impressed with the University of Wollongong - it is clear that you pay a lot of attention to your staff and we can learn a lot from you," she said. "You are always welcome in Thailand."
Professor Patterson also thanked the delegation for choosing to incorporate UOW into their visit and encouraged both countries to learn more about each other's higher education systems.
Members of the delegation included Dr Arnuparp Lekhakula (Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University); Dr Bundit Thipakorn (Vice President, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi; Dr Chavanee Tongroach (Vice President, Suan Dusit Rajabhat University); Dr Sudaporn Luksaneeyanawin (Assistant President, Chulalongkorn University); Mrs Sujit Rattanamung (Director, Bureau of Personnel Administration and Development, Commission on Higher Education; Ms Wattanasopee Suksa-ard (Educational Officer, Bureau of International Cooperation Strategy, Commission on Higher Education), Mrs Suneerat Chaiprasongsuk (Bureau of Personnel Administration and Development, Commission on Higher Education) and Mrs Sirimas Chantawaro (Bureau of Personnel Administration and Development, Commission on Higher Education).
