IMB to sponsor leadership program
Nov 01, 2006
The IMB Community Foundation will be the financial sponsor of the 2006 Phase 1 Cohort of the University of Wollongong's Black Opal Leadership Program. The IMB will provide $50,000 to Black Opal which will help fund the program for two years. Black Opal takes teams of first year undergraduates and puts them through an intentional three-year leadership development initiative. Manager of UniCentre's Centre for Student Development, Mr Tony Elshof, said the financial assistance of the IMB would go a long way in supporting this vital program. Phase One of Black Opal involves a leadership camp, weekly meetings, training workshops, community service projects, social activities, reflective and evaluative sessions, as well as opportunities to attend conferences and leadership seminars. The Second Phase of Black Opal encourages students to choose leadership specializations and provides them with higher level activities building on from the first year. Black Opal is supported by the University of Wollongong, UniCentre, Wollongong City Council, the IMB, Accommodation Services as well as the students themselves. For more information visit: Black Opal
