Workshop held on antibacterial resistance

UOW's Institute for Biomolecular Science recently hosted a workshop on the latest developments in antibacterial resistance. Institute Director, Professor Mark Wilson, welcomed participants to the workshop which was chaired by Professor John Bremner. Participants included Professor Kim Lewis (Northeastern University, USA) who spoke on the challenge of antibiotic discovery and emerging solutions; Dr Melissa Brown (University of Sydney) -- "antimicrobial resistance in staphylococci: multidrug recognition and efflux"; Dr Naresh Kumar (UNSW) -- " novel antibacterials derived from halogenated furanones and N-acylisatins"; and Dr Peter Newton (Wollongong Hospital) -- "antibacterial resistance continuously on the move: current clinical challenges in the Illawarra".
