Graduating UOW artists ask: ‘Who is Mark?’
Nov 27, 2006
A dynamic exhibition of works showcasing the Illawarra’s brightest young artists and designers making their mark in the creative world has been opened at the University of Wollongong and is running until Friday 1 December. The annual UOW Graduation Show in Visual Arts and Design, this year titled ‘Who is Mark?’, is run, directed, curated and publicised entirely by the students and features an exclusive preview of an eclectic range of material from the future leaders of the creative industry. The vast collection features painting, sculpture, textiles, graphic design, photography, new media, motion graphics, animation, web design, advertising, magazines, installations, tattoos, lighting and t-shirts. Each individual’s work represents his or her unique mark and is an initiative to share ideas with the local community and showcase the diversity and talent of UOW’s graduating students. Editor and publisher, Kate Bezar, officially opened the show on 17 November and local musicians provided entertainment. The Creative Arts student graduation show committee has been working toward the event all year, raising in excess of $12,000 through a variety of activities. A full colour catalogue designed by the students is also on sale during the exhibition. The catalogue displays the talents of each graduating student and will feature reflections on their work and time at UOW. The Graduation Show continues until Friday1 December in the Faculty of Creative Arts building (25) and admission is free to the campus and community.
