UniVative Illawarra announces winners
Feb 27, 2007
Winners from this year’s innovative UniVative Illawarra program were announced last week (Friday 23 February) following an all morning judging session. There were six teams of students in all within the competition. Each of the three host business organisations had two teams working intensively over the past three weeks to make recommendations/solutions on a real workplace issue confronting the host organisation. The host organisations this year were Pillar Administration, Global Coffee Solutions and Junior Chamber International Illawarra. Careers Service Manager, Mr Martin Smith, said that student focus groups conducted at the end of 2006 indicated strong student interest in workplace learning activities – and opportunities to apply their disciplines to the world of work. “The UniVative Illawarra program caters for these interests and has harnessed the enthusiasm of students from a wide variety of disciplines from domestic and international students,” Mr Smith said. Judges (including Mr Smith) were drawn from the University’s Community Engagement Committee and consisted of David Fuller (Director of the Innovation Campus), Monique Harper-Richardson (Manager of Community and Partnerships); and Fran Walder (Senior Manager, Strategy, with the Academic Registrar’s Department).
