UOW showcases excellence to careers advisers

The University of Wollongong welcomed 100 high school careers advisers and TAFE counsellors to a “Showcase of Excellence” event today (Tuesday March 27). The careers advisers and TAFE counsellors came from across NSW and the ACT with representatives from Sydney (including Sutherland and South Western Sydney), and the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions. The Showcase of Excellence is a day of informative presentations about the special qualities of the University of Wollongong and the opportunities that UOW provides for its students. Presentations across the day included: • Excellence in e-learning, Professor Sandra Wills, Director, CEDIR • Excellence in producing competitive graduates, Martin Smith, Manager, UOW Careers Service • Excellence in student opportunities: nine student speakers, each representing a UOW Faculty • Excellence in Medical Research: Professor John Bremner (Medicinal chemistry) • Current climate of the tertiary sector, Professor John Patterson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Operations) • Excellence in Medicine: Three students from the Graduate School of Medicine will talk about their background, their application experience and the medicine curriculum After the event, guests then attended lunch with UOW senior executive staff.
