UOW celebrates International Nurses' Day

May 15, 2007

International Nurses’ Day is celebrated around the world every 12 May to celebrate the birth date of Florence Nightingale who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing.

The Illawarra’s celebration of this event involved a conference held at the Wollongong Novotel last week (Friday 11 May) which highlighted the achievements made through the collaborative efforts of the University of Wollongong and the South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service.

The event was called “Success Through Collaboration” and attracted close to 100 delegates.

The CEO of the area health service, Professor Debora Picone, officially opened the conference.
