Common Cold Poetry Collective holds debut reading

May 25, 2007

The debut public reading of the Common Cold Poetry Collective (CCPC) was held recently at the Five Islands Brewery in Wollongong.

A group recently formed from within the University of Wollongong's creative writing area, though not affiliated with the University, the CCPC has been holding weekly meetings at the UniBar on Tuesdays at 1pm.

In the short time it has been running, the collective's numbers have swelled to more than 40 members from within faculties and the wider community.

The latest reading proved a huge success with an outstanding array of work from 18 poets. The CCPC was fortunate to secure a special reading from local poet laureate, Alan Wearne, as well as exceptional performances from three local musicians --Amy Luchetti, Erin Casey, and Matt Humphreys.

Plans are already under way to hold future readings and to increase the collective's membership.
