Shoalhaven Campus attracts 1000 students to Careers Expo
Jun 28, 2007
Shoalhaven Campus hosted nearly 1000 Year 10 students and several hundred job seekers and parents when it held its biggest ever Careers Expo and Jobs Drive on Wednesday (27 June).
More than 100 organisations and businesses including the University of Wollongong, TAFE, other universities and training organisations, jobs networks, disability services, local businesses and government departments were on campus all day, giving students and job seekers the chance to explore local jobs and careers, training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities. The Expo was a combined effort between a number of Shoalhaven-based organisations including the Student Workplace Learning program, UOW's Shoalhaven Campus, TAFE, local high schools, the YWCA and the Shoalhaven Area Consultative Committee. Evelyn O'Neill from the Student Workplace Learning program said the Expo had been a big success. "It was certainly the biggest event we've held in terms of numbers of exhibitors, and we've had very positive feedback from them," she said. "The students also seemed to get a lot out of the day."
