Corporate governance expert presents talks at UOW

UOW’s School of Accounting and Finance recently hosted a visit to Wollongong of an academic who has been influential in the formation of government policy in the UK. Professor Prem Sikka from the University of Essex delivered a public lecture at UOW entitled “Corporate Governance: What about the Workers?” Professor Sikka has written a number of discussion papers for the UK government committees on auditing, governance and company law. He is well published in academic journals, serving on the editorial boards of a number of journals and renowned for his exposure in the UK media as a commentator on corporate strategy and the role of the accounting profession. His major research interests include corporate governance, auditing, the responsibility of the accounting profession, and uncovering and combating white collar crime. Ahead of his public lecture at UOW, Professor Sikka presented a higher degree research seminar entitled, “Your Thesis and Beyond”.
