Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne delivers inaugural lecture

"Public Policy and Indigenous Affairs - 40 Years on"? was the topic of the inaugural Richard Johnson College Lecture delivered at the University of Wollongong on Friday 6 July.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by the Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, Dr Philip Freier. Dr Freier has taught in schools with large indigenous populations and he has been the Anglican Bishop of the Northern Territory. He has a particular concern for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with whom he lived and worked for a number of years, and in the issues they confront in their communities.
Dr Freier was awarded his PhD for the thesis, "Living with the Munpitch: The history of Mitchell River Mission, 1905-1967"? by James Cook University.
He was installed as 10th Archbishop of Melbourne in December 2006.
