Early Entry to UOW proves a popular path. . .

28 Sep 2007 | Renee Criddle

More final year high school students are wanting to ensure they have gained a place at the University of Wollongong before they sit for their Higher School Certificate.

About 900 NSW student hopefuls came to UOW this week (Thursday 27 September and Friday 28 September) for Early Entry Program interviews and to take part in campus tours.

“There is no doubt that interest in the program has grown this year especially since the Faculty of Arts has now joined in the program,” according to UniAdvice Recruitment Co-ordinator, Michelle Stojanovski.

Four faculties participated over the two days – Arts, Engineering, Informatics and Science. Health and Behavioural Sciences has Early Entry available only on some of their courses and this faculty held an Information Day earlier this week for its prospective Early Entry students.

Early Entry to UOW is based on students’ performance in their interview, their trial HSC results and how passionate they are about their particular study area.

Ms Stojanovski said students accepting an offer of Early Entry to UOW but who wanted to change their mind after receiving their HSC results could do so.

“However, we have found in the past that most students prefer to stay with the Early Entry course offers made to them,” she said. Mrs Angelina Lonard and Mrs Lynne Clements
