Rugby league caps off interhalls sports contest
16 Oct 2007 | Bernie Goldie
Interhalls sports days are held four times a year with the residential colleges of UOW conducting sporting events against each other.
Sports involve cricket, soccer, AFL and the biggest drawcard -- rugby league.
Before rugby league was held on Sunday (14 October) - the females from Weerona and Campus East played each other in netball with Weerona winning 27-24.
All matches are highly contested with lots of good natured heckling from the sidelines.
Team captains were Ash Barnes from Campus East and Richard Sykes from Weerona.
The final score in the league contest was 36-14 to Campus East which was not that bad a result for Weerona keeping in mind it is a college of only 200 compared to 500 at Campus East.
