Arts holds Dean’s Scholars dinner

23 Oct 2007 | Renee Criddle

The annual Arts Dean’s Scholars dinner was held recently involving students, their academic mentors and a number of faculty executive including the Dean of Arts, Professor Andrew Wells.

The Dean’s Scholars are a high-achieving and academically outstanding group of students.

The dinner featured presentations from two former Dean’s Scholars who spoke about their experiences in the program and what they have achieved since graduating from their degrees.

Katelin McInerney spoke about her career pathway, which has led to a job at the Illawarra Mercury. In her short time as a journalist there, she has already won best feature category in the Australian Council of Deans Excellence in Journalism Awards 2007.

Michelle Padgett also spoke about her experiences as a Dean’s Scholar and the academic pathway she has pursued involving two graduate diplomas and a Master of Education.

The event was a great opportunity for the students to mingle with each other and gain valuable advice about study options and career opportunities.
