Commerce conducts Teaching and Learning Showcase

The Faculty of Commerce yesterday (30 October) conducted a teaching and learning showcase entitled ‘Creating Better Futures’ highlighting innovations in teaching and learning.
The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Shirley Leitch, welcomed participants to the showcase which was first held in 2006. Participants included Associate Professor Mary Kaidonis, Associate Professor Abbas Valadkhani, Brian Murphy, Janette Rowland, Dr Jenny Algie, Dr Gary Noble, Venkata Yanamandram and Associate Professor Ann Hodgkinson.
Presenters were winners of the faculty’s creating better futures grants for 2006. They presented their work in progress and/or findings. Other presenters were winners of the faculty’s teaching awards for 2006.
The awards and grants acknowledged the initiatives of senior and early career academics as well as individual and group efforts to contribute to the faculty’s teaching and learning excellence.
The showcase was an important opportunity to share and celebrate teaching and learning ideas which are innovative and enable the faculty to grow together as a “community of scholars”.
