UOW hosts international conference on provable security
2 Nov 2007 | Renee Criddle
International researchers from the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Australia are presenting papers at a provable security conference being held at the University of Wollongong this week.
Provable security is an important research area in cryptography. Cryptography is the practice and study of hiding information – for example the security of ATM cards and computer passwords.
The conference’s opening address was presented by UOW’s Director of the Telecommunications and Information Technology Research Institute (TITR) and Head of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Professor Philip Ogunbona.
Associate Professor Willy Susilo is Program Chair of the conference and Associate Professor Yi Mu is the General Chair.
A range of topics have been discussed over the two-day conference (1 - 2 November) including authentication, encryption, unforgeable signatures, and protocol and proving technique.
Conference organisers said that ‘Provsec 2007’ would provide a platform for researchers, scholars and practitioners to exchange new ideas for solving various problems in the provable security area.
