Australian Cartoonists’ Association and Wacom conduct Masters Workshop
2 Nov 2007 | Bernie Goldie
In conjunction with the Australian Cartoonists’ Association and the Wacom Company, UOW’s School of Art and Design, Graphic Design and New Media program is holding a one-day Masters Workshop today (2 November) using state-of-the-art technology from the Wacom Company.
“Engagement with industry is an essential part of the training environment for our graphic design students, especially in a field where the key to staying competitive requires innovation, imagination and a good sense of humour,” according to Mr Gregor Cullen, lecturer in Graphic Design at the School of Art and Design.
He said the School of Art and Design was delighted to take up the offer from The Australian Cartoonists’ Association to make available award-winning illustrator and cartoonist Jason Chatfield along with Brenton Staggard, Wacom’s leading expert for a full day of training and demonstrations.
“We are also delighted to offer graphic design students from Wollongong TAFE, the Centre for Digital Media and Design (CDMD) the opportunity to participate in the workshop. The workshop signals future collaboration and partnership between the CDMD and the School of Art and Design Graphic Design and new media program”, Mr Cullen said.
The Wacom Masters Workshop will launch a weekend of activities in Wollongong associated with the Australian Cartoonists’ Association Annual conference and the 23rd Stanleys Awards and the exhibition “Behind the Lines” showing at Wollongong City Gallery.
