Thai Consul-General visits UOW
16 Nov 2007 | Bernie Goldie
The University of Wollongong today (Friday 16 November) paid host to a visit by the Thai Consul-General, Mr Kiattikhun Chartprasert.
Mr Chartprasert was given an overview of the University’s operations before meeting Professor John Bremner and Professor Stephen Pyne from the Department of Chemistry.
There are very active collaborative linkages in the Department of Chemistry with Thailand especially through shorter term research visits by Thai PhD students (Chiang Mai University and Suranaree University of Technology).
The Consul-General also met a group of UOW Thai students before undertaking a tour of the campus. Mr Chartprasert was accompanied on his trip to Wollongong by the two Thai Consuls Mr Noppadol Nipakanont and Mr Tor Saralamba.
UOW has more Thai students enrolled than any other Australian university and since 1987 a total of 1,416 Thai students have graduated from Wollongong.
