ANCORS hosts Indonesian delegation

The University of Wollongong’s National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) this week (Tuesday 11 December) hosted a senior delegation from the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
The visit, which was co-hosted by the Australian Customs Service, facilitated discussions focussed around research and capacity building activities associated with fisheries management and maritime security of mutual interest to Australian and Indonesia.
Director of ANCORS, Professor Martin Tsamenyi, officially welcomed the delegation which was led by Secretary to the Director General of Surveillance and Control, Dr Purwanto.
ANCORS is a centre of excellence in oceans governance and maritime security knowledge services in Australia. It is a leading contributor to the Oceans and Transnational Security “Research Strength” within UOW.
ANCORS provides multi-disciplinary university based research, education and high-level advice on national and international oceans governance and law, maritime security and co-operation and ocean resource management to countries, agencies and clients in the western Pacific, Indian Ocean and Southern Ocean region and beyond, in order to help them achieve sustainable benefits from marine jurisdictions.
The centre aims to become the acknowledged leader in its field in Australia and internationally.
