Shoalhaven Campus celebrates record number of graduates
13 Dec 2007 | Renee Criddle
A record number of graduates from the University of Wollongong’s Shoalhaven Campus donned their caps and gowns yesterday (Wednesday 12 December) to participate in a graduation celebration.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton, travelled from Wollongong for the occasion to officially preside over the event.
Fifty-one students participated in the celebrations – the largest ever cohort of graduating students from the campus. Students received degrees which included the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration, Graduate Diploma of Education and Master of Management.
“This is always an exciting occasion for our students,” said Head of Shoalhaven Campus, Robbie Collins.
“After three, and in some cases four, years of study and dedication many of these students will move into professional occupations in the Shoalhaven region. It is well recognised that we have a shortage of professionals and these students will contribute to addressing that gap as well as contributing to the economic and cultural growth of the region.”
The Occasional Address was delivered by Head of the Shoalhaven Marine and Freshwater Research Centre, Associate Professor Ron West, who is an internationally recognised expert in the field of fisheries science, policy and management.
Around 300 guests attended the graduation celebration.
