Engineering holds Design and Technology Competition award ceremony
17 Dec 2007 | Renee Criddle
The inaugural Design and Technology Competition awards evening for the Faculty of Engineering was held at the University of Wollongong recently – a project aimed at encouraging high school students to pursue a career in engineering.
The idea for the competition came from Mr Bob May from Engineers Australia Illawarra in 2006 and was then put in to motion by Bob Wheway, Elaine Bailey and Dean Professor Chris Cook from the Faculty of Engineering.
The Vice-Chancellor then awarded a $15,000 Vice-Chancellor’s Challenge Grant to show his support for the program.
The grant is being shared with the School of Physics, which also runs its own competition.
Awards were presented to 13 project reports from a range of local high-school students in front of 50 guests.
