Orientation Week in full swing
21 Feb 2008 | Renee Criddle
Orientation Week (O-Week) is now in full swing at the University of Wollongong with new first year domestic and international students sampling the variety of activities on offer.
O-Week allows new students to familiarise themselves with staff and facilities, meet fellow students, finalise enrolment matters, ask questions . . . and generally have some fun.
Faculty orientations have involved activities designed to help students become familiar with the different styles of teaching and learning expected of university students.
Students have also been able to learn about resources available in such areas as the library, computer laboratories, student services and residential accommodation.
Special international student orientation sessions are being conducted during this week. There are also study abroad/exchange students’ orientation sessions.
The Wollongong Undergraduate Students’ Association (WUSA) has also been running important sessions for new students and has included a free barbecue on the Duck Pond Lawn.
The UniCentre O-Week festival has been centred on the Duck Pond Lawn near Building 11 with promotional stalls dotted around the area.
