University showcases excellence to school careers advisers

The University played host to 115 high school careers advisers and TAFE counsellors at its 19th annual Showcase of Excellence on 26 March.
The Showcase of Excellence is a day of informative presentations about the special qualities of the University of Wollongong and the opportunities that UOW provides for its students.
Presentations across the day included:
• an official welcome by Vice-Chancellor Professor Gerard Sutton
• a presentation on “Excellence in Partnerships” by Vice-Principal (Administration) Chris Grange
• a Creative Arts portfolios presentation with Siobhan Lenihan, Faculty of Creative Arts Executive Manager Siobhan Lenihan
• details of scholarships at UOW with Monique Harper-Richardson from the Office of Community and Partnerships
• presentations by students from each faculty briefly highlighting their various experiences at UOW
• a presentation on excellence in health research with School of Health Sciences head Professor Julie Steele
• a presentation on the current climate of the tertiary sector and UOW developments from Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Operations) Professor John Patterson
• a presentation on UOW’s excellence in law with Associate Professor Kay Maxwell who is Associate Dean in Law (Teaching and Learning) together with Law graduate Ashley Tsacalos who is a partner at Deacons Lawyers
UOW’s National Marketing Manager Emily Christofides was MC for the day’s activities.
