Logistics course notches first NSW accreditation

Students undertaking the Master of Science (Logistics) course through the University of Wollongong’s Graduate School of Business can take comfort in the fact that their studies are well recognised by external industry outlets.
The course has now been formally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) – making it the first such accreditation for a NSW university. This accreditation means that graduates of the MSc Logistics course will be accepted as full members of CIPS as soon as they build up three years of work experience in industry (or accepted immediately as full members if they already have three years of industry experience).
Dr Peter Robertson, who handled the accreditation process, highlighted the fact that the Master of Science (Logistics) course is already accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
The course is designed to provide managers and professionals with the knowledge and expertise in logistics, operations and supply chain management in order to pursue careers within the manufacturing, transport, service and retail industry sectors.
The Master of Science (Logistics) examines the chain of enterprises engaged in moving products, services or information from initial suppliers, through various stages of transformation to the ultimate client or customer.
Dr Robertson is an experienced supply chain practitioner and academic with extensive knowledge and background in the manufacturing industry including BlueScope Steel. He has worked across culturally diverse businesses in Asia, Australia, the United States and New Zealand.
