Trio join forces to help push teaching of mathematics to young children
2 May 2008 | Bernie Goldie
Department of Education and Training (DET) Quality Teaching Consultant for Numeracy, Cindy Cusack has joined forces with a Lecturer in Education at UOW, Ann Baxter, and Catholic Education Learning Officer, Shirley Brady, to provide workshops for pre-service teachers at the University of Wollongong.
Students undertaking the Bachelor of Education Programs (Early Childhood and Primary), as well as the Graduate Diploma in Education Primary students, had the opportunity recently to learn about the “Count Me In Too Early Numeracy Project” through a series of interactive workshops.
In May 2007, the trio planned and implemented the very successful “Making Maths Visible in the Illawarra” Conference, which was hosted by the University of Wollongong.
Ann said that cross sector partnerships were vitally important to the promotion of quality education for our pre-service teachers.
