Join in the fun at the UniCentre Cup

More than 20 teams have entered the 2nd annual UniCentre Cup, which will be held at the University Recreation & Aquatic Centre (URAC) on Friday (9 May).
This combined clubs and societies sports gala day is being hosted by UniCentre with sponsorship from Lipton Ice Tea, assistance of URAC and the support of many local organisations including the Wollongong IMB Hawks, Wollongong Wolves and the St George-Illawarra Dragons.
Melissa Zaccagnini, from the Centre for Student Engagement said the day was designed to “facilitate positive interaction between members of all clubs and societies, promoting interaction between international and domestic students”.
Prizes include a team spirit award. With over 20 teams registered in the competition, it is sure to be an exciting and colourful event!
The day will consists of a rotation of five official sports including Oz tag, volleyball, badminton, dodge ball and football (soccer) in which the club and societies teams will compete. There will also be a series of novelty activities over the lunch hour.
There will also be a fund-raising event, “Laps for Leukaemia”, where people will run laps of a designated course to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. There will also be number of raffles and competitions on the day to raise money for the foundation.
Sttudents and staff are invited to join the festivities. There will be a free BBQ lunch and entertainment all day, not to mention the opportunity to watch many UOW student clubs and societies go head to head to win the UniCentre Cup. The presentation will be hosted in the UniBar at 4pm and will include a light afternoon tea.
