IPRI researchers return to their alma mater
The Intelligent Polymer Research Institute (IPRI) has produced more than 50 PhD students since 1990 when Dr Ge Hailin graduated.
The students have gone on to important positions in a diverse range of industry and research laboratories around the world.
Several of these graduates returned to Wollongong recently to address current and prospective PhD students at IPRI.
They outlined the amazing opportunities available to research scientists with a PhD and presented ideas on how best to prepare to make the most of these opportunities.
IPRI will soon move into custom-built laboratories on UOW’s Innovation Campus.
IPRI Director and ARC Federation Fellow, Professor Gordon Wallace, said the new facilities would provide an excellent environment for the multidisciplinary research carried out by IPRI.
As well as state-of-the-art facilities the Innovation Campus also provides world class conference facilities which IPRI will use to continue to host international symposiums and bring world scientific research leaders and collaborators to Wollongong.
IPRI, in fact, will be hosting the forthcoming Asia-Pacific Symposium on Nanobionics to be held at the Innovation Campus running from June 22-25. IPRI is the lead partner in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science.
