It’s Beijing bound for student sisters

UOW will be making quite a splash in the pool when the women’s water polo team takes on the world at the Beijing Olympics in August.
Two sisters from the University have made the Olympic water polo team – Jenna and Mia Santoromito.
Mia is an Arts/Communications student studying on the main Wollongong campus while her sister, Jenna, is studying Business Administration/Hospitality at UOW’s Loftus Education Centre.
Media Unit photographer Sean Maguire caught up with the sisters in one of their last Sydney training sessions at the Sutherland Leisure Centre (pictured) before they headed off to a camp in Cairns.
The sisters are due back in Sydney for several days in early August before departing for Beijing on August 5.
The pair received congratulatory letters on their achievement from UOW Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton, and Rebel Sport gift vouchers on behalf of the University Recreation and Aquatic Centre (URAC) and the UOW Alumni Network.
Note: UOW graduate, Zoe Uphill (Commerce/Law) has also made the Olympic rowing team (quad sculls).
