The annual Australian College of Educators "Outstanding Educational Achievement Awards” were presented on 30 July at the Illawarra Master Builders Club.
The awards are cross sectoral -- so one award goes to a university educator, one to a school teacher, one to an early childhood teacher and one to TAFE for their long-standing contribution to the education sector.
The awards are sponsored by UOW’s Faculty of Education and the university educator who won this year is the Faculty of Education’s Principal Fellow, Associate Professor Brian Cambourne.
He received the award for his long-term outstanding contribution over many years to education.
Professor Cambourne is also an international awardee having been inducted into the United States Hall of Fame for literacy teaching several years ago. He has had a prolific impact on teaching at the university level and schools in his illustrious career.
