Looking into the future of eTeaching
10 Oct 2008 | Bernie Goldie
The University of Wollongong yesterday (9 October) hosted an eTeaching Futures Forum.
Participants heard about the future of eTeaching and, at the same time, a staff and student survey to gather feedback on the issues was officially launched by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton.
Organisers say the forum was a great opportunity for the University community to not only have an impact on the future directions of eTeaching but also to have a sneak peek at what is around the corner at UOW -- and what’s available at other organisations.
The Manager of eLearning Strategic Directions, Ms Sarah Lambert, was one of the key presenters while the Manager for Learning Facilities and Technologies at the Centre for Educational Development and Interactive Resources (CEDIR), Dr Richard Caladine, presented his part on the future of desktop conferencing.
New systems and management solutions were on show to inspire the academic community including systems from other institutions and products from other businesses. In addition, on show were interesting pilots that have been happening around the University, as well as some demonstrations of products.
eTeaching at UOW is set to improve, making a student’s journey through university studies easier and more flexible than it has ever been, according to the forum organisers.
