Wollongong residents should be proud says Novotel Manager
Wollongong residents should be proud of the region’s beautiful surrounds, tourism opportunities and first class industry and education.
That was the message of Novotel Northbeach General Manager Walter Immoos yesterday when he spoke at an alumni breakfast at the Innovation Campus.
More than 60 alumni and business people shared ideas with Mr Immoos at the Commerce Business Alumni Network breakfast about the future direction of the local region as part of a seminar series, Opportunity Knocks Illawarra.
Having worked in four continents and visited more than 45 countries around the world, Mr Immoos encouraged the business community to be assertive ambassadors of Wollongong.
“We need to be proud of our city and work together to ensure there is no confusion with our region’s brand,” said Mr Immoos.
The fourth breakfast meeting of its kind, the Network’s seminar series provides opportunities for sharing of ideas among business alumni in the region.
“Events like these provide an opportunity for our commerce alumni to build knowledge and connections with the University,” said Dr Michael Jones, Chair, Commerce Business Alumni Network.
The Commerce Business Alumni Network consists of volunteer alumni from the Faculty of Commerce and the Graduate School of Business. The next breakfast meeting will be held early 2009.
