Travel notes from International House Alumni
Battling serious jet lag, Eugenia Twomey (a UOW International House alumnus) recently gave us a brief update on her travels throughout Europe and used her International House connections to stay at International House in London.
“By all accounts my stay was great- clean facilities, fabulous location (directly opposite Great Portland Street Station- a central tube stop in the heart of London) and a 10 minutes walk from the alluring shopping district that is Oxford Street.
“The place had a fun vibe with weekly activities like yoga or trivia, a decent on-site pub with pool tables, a gym, a nice dinning hall which also doubles as a music venue where that great young Aussie pop group 'Operator Please' has played,” Eugenia said.
“Being able to stay at International House in London was so convenient and inexpensive. As an alumnus, I received a discounted rate and a complimentary 15 minute internet voucher was given to me at the beginning of my stay.”
Alison Hemsley, Student Residence Manager of International House in Wollongong said that the resdience has an affiliation with International Houses Worldwide.
“There are International Houses in 15 cities around the world including USA, Canada, Vietnam, UK, France, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia,” she said.
“Alumni of the University of Wollongong International House have a great opportunity to make the most of these affiliations by staying at the various worldwide locations and (in most cases) receiving a discount.”
These pictures show some of Eugenia’s snaps from her time in London.
