Opening of ANFF Materials Node
The Chief Executive Officer of the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF), Mrs Rosie Hicks, was a special guest at the launch of the ANFF Materials Node late last week.
The launch was held towards the end of the three-day 2009 Electromaterials Symposium conducted at the Australian Institute for Innovative Materials on UOW’s Innovation Campus.
The Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) materials node (based at UOW) combines the skills, facilities and expertise of the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute (IPRI) with the Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (ISEM) and the University of Newcastle’s Centre for Organic Electronics.
Between them, these three partners offer extensive and unique capabilities in the design, development and fabrication of nanostructured electronic materials and devices.
The Materials Node offers services for the production of commercial quantities of speciality nanostructured materials such as electronic polymers, macromolecules, oxides and metallic powders.
It also offers extensive facilities for fabricating thin films and devices, such as organic electronic diodes and transistors, with applications in the energy generation, energy storage, display, biosensor and photonics technology areas.
The Material Node Facility Manager is UOW’s Associate Professor Peter Innis.
Established under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, the ANFF links seven university-based nodes to provide researchers and industry with access to state-of-the-art fabrication facilities.
