Lecturer’s key role in ANSTO award success

A lecturer in UOW’s School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Daniel Saffioti, has played a pivotal role in helping the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) win a major category at the 3rd Annual IT Service Management (ITSM) Awards.

Mr Saffioti also holds a joint position with ANSTO. He was part of a team which saw ANSTO win the prestigious ITSM Project of the Year at an awards function held at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse.

ANSTO’s IT Department moved to embrace best practice IT service management concepts using Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as part of the overall project to improve their customers’ IT experience.

Their submission was judged to be the winner ahead of two other finalists – Western Australian Police and Deloittes.

ANSTO is largely a research-based organisation with a small corporate element. All of its operations are very reliant on information technology.
